The Carnival of Peculiarities

The Wimmera Steampunk Festival blends Victoriana and imagination. Set in the 19th-century railway town of Dimboola, our event celebrates the weird and wonderful. People of the Wimmera and beyond come together through creativity, festivities and an appreciation of 19th-century aesthetics.

Our third Wimmera Steampunk Festival promises to transform our township into a 19th-century carnival of wonder and, above all, welcoming.

Inspired by Tim Burton’s fantasy film, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, the theme for the next event is The Carnival of Peculiarities. You interpret what it means to be peculiar and express it in a steampunk costume. The Carnival of Peculiarities is about celebrating your uniqueness and creativity.

On behalf of the Victorian Government, welcome to the 2025 Wimmera Steampunk

Festival – a unique celebration of Victorian-era aesthetics and boundless imagination.

This festival transforms Dimboola into an explosion of colour and wonder, embracing the extraordinary and inviting visitors to express their uniqueness through steampunk-inspired costumes and creativity.

We’re proud to support events like the Steampunk Festival, which not only celebrate individuality but also drive economic growth, with restaurants, cafes, pubs and hotels all packed with visitors. This festival also brings together people from all walks of life, fostering a sense of community and shared appreciation for the arts.

The festival’s diverse events, including art exhibitions, theatrical performances, live music and immersive experiences, cater to all ages and draw people from across Victoria and interstate.

Congratulations to the organisers, volunteers, artists and participants who come together to bring this unique festival to life. I hope you have a wonderful experience as we celebrate the things that make us all unique!
